Round 4, 2008 AFL tips
We missed last round and in the time since Round 1, Patrick has tipped 8 right in round 2 and he was one off in the Margin for the first game meaning he was 104th that week for the site.
Last week he tipped 5 right and is currently 4th in his league behind his Poppy (17) and Me (17) and his friends Dad, Brett (18). Here are his tips for this round (Note they may change as they did in Round 2).
Best of luck.

Patrick easter message and end of term
Well tomorrow is Good Friday and Sunday is Easter. That means that today is the last day of Primary School for Patrick. Today he has an Easter hat parade and he wanted to show off his hat in this video and also send out an important message to support the Royal Children’s Hospital and its Good Friday Appeal to raise money for much needed equipment.

Visiting Nanny and Poppy
Daddy and mum are on holiday from their work and the first thing we did was to go visit my Nanny and Poppy (and uncles and aunties and cousins) in Warrnambool (where my dad grew up).
The drive to Warrnambool takes about 4 hours but it wasn’t so bad this time as I played with the Nintendo DS Lite I got from Santa for Christmas. Mostly I played with my first Nintendog, Santa and tried to earn some more money to buy a second dog.
When we got to Warrnambool, we went straight to Nanny’s house but she was out. Some of my Uncles and Aunties and Cousins where there and so w
e played with them until Nanny and Poppy got home.
That night we went out for dinner at the local lawn bowls club. Alex and I shared a Garlic Bread and Nugget and chips. After everyone had eaten dinner we all took turns having a go on a chocolate machine game. Between everyone we had lots of fun and won lots of Chocolate!!
On Saturday we had all the Uncles and Aunties and Cousins back over for a BBQ brunch. I also played my Nintendogs again and earned enough money to buy my second dog, Coco.
In the afternoon, while Alex (my brother) slept, Dad and me went to Shelly Beach to find shells and to look at all the underwater sea life that are in the rock pools.
That evening, Nanny and Poppy had a wedding on, so we went to the Botanical Gardens with My Uncle Anthony, Aunty Vicki and my cousins Andrew, Anna, Joshy and Kayla. We had Kermonds hamburgers. I had a Bacon one and it was good.
We then went to the duck pond in the gardens and fed the ducks and had a running race. I wanted to play cricket but the park had a no balls policy so we decided to go down to the beach and play beach cricket.
We went down to Stingray Bay and played beach cricket. Although it wasn’t really hot, we went into the water up to our knees. The water was so ni
ce that Alex and I went in further and go all wet. I was trying to collect the cricker ball!
Sunday dad took Alex and me to Flagstaff Hill where we did the Sea Chest Challenge which involves following the clues and making your way around the different sites to see.
Also there was a wedding on at the old church and we stopped to see the bride go in. Everyone was dress in old time costumes but they still had their modern cameras.
Dad took a panoramic shot of the stores from across the lake and you can see that here.
After this we had Kermonds again, this time with Nanny and Poppy and then went over to my Cousins place where I played Cricket on their PS2. I really want to get it, it was fun.
On Monday we went out for lunch with Nanny and Poppy. I had Nachos and a mixed plate that included Salami and olives (olives are my favourite). Then we all hopped back in the car and drove back to Melbourne. I did some more contests on Nintendogs and was able to buy my third dog.
We had a lot of fun and can’t wait to see Nanny again in March.
Best Christmas Lights in Melbourne
This is our second Christmas in Noble Park since moving to the area around Easter time in 2006. One of the great things about Christmas in Noble Park are the Christmas lights we see on our way home on Jacksons road. Quite a few houses have great lights but the best of all is a little off the track, opposite Patrick’s school (Oakwood Park Primary) at 3 Smale Court, Noble Park.
Apparently each year around October, the owns of the house start work putting up the 100s of lights and decorations that make up such a beautiful Christmas presentation. Every time we drive by it at night, my boys just want to go and visit it to see all the lights and other decorations.
Its not just the lights and decorations that are so wonderful about this house, it is also the fact that they use there hard work to not only bring Christmas cheer to the people that come to see the house but they also have chosen to support the Gordon Care for Children organisation.
Gordon Care list two important services that they provide:
1. Residential Services for children
Our program provides quality care and accommodation for children and young people who are no longer able to reside in their family homes due to protective concerns.
2. Services for Separated Families
Our program aims to help children develop better relationships with both parents and extended family members following separation and divorce.
Each year the owners of the house let people come into their front lawn and take donations for the charity. They also have Santa come and visit each Saturday and Sunday night. This year, they also had a wishing tree where you could take away a name of a child and buy them a present to help make there Christmas just that little bit nicer.
On the 22nd of December, they have a special night where Santa will come again, this time all being well with the help of the local fire service, in a fire truck. It should be a wonderful night and a great way to celebrate Christmas.
If you want to read more about the family involved, the Star News group have a nice little piece about them on their website: Rays of hope.
